April 15th 2026 is ASTSBC’s Driver Appreciation Day! This occurs annually on the third Wednesday of April and is a day in which we recognize and thank our dedicated school bus drivers.

We encourage schools and school districts to take this opportunity to recognize your drivers’ tremendous commitment to safely transporting students to and from school each day and with a variety of school-related activities and trips. Providing transportation is not the only thing bus drivers do; they form relationships with their passengers and create a positive space on their buses, often becoming role models for students and a voice of welcome to parents in their community.

ASTSBC has a created a downloadable poster that be printed and/or distributed to highlight the day, and below are some ideas in which you can give extra thanks to your driver/s:

• Give a thank you card with a personal message thanking your driver
• Provide a special gift from their students e.g. Personalized Mug with messages or drawings
• Collect thank-you notes from the community, including parents and local businesses, for the drivers
• Bus Driver Appreciation Certificates
• Set up a morning banner near the bus parking area with a welcoming and appreciative message
• Spotlight different bus drivers in the school newsletter
• Make special announcements over the school PA system
• Use the school’s social media platforms to post stories and thank-you messages for bus drivers
